Valentino Balboni And The Silver Bizzarrini GT 5300

by Mike -

Valentino Balboni was the test driver for Lamborghini for 40 years until 2008. He was given this job by the company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini.

Mr. Balboni was at Concorso Italiano in Monterey this past Friday, August 19, 2011, and I was fortunate to be able to meet him and speak with him for a few minutes.

Mr. Balboni on the right and me on the left.

From left to right: Mike Clarke, Dr. Paul Turek, Mike Gulett and Mr. Balboni.

Mr. Balboni is also a good listener.

Mr. Balboni told Paul Turek that the first car that got him excited about cars was a silver Bizzarrini GT 5300 that he saw at the Turin car show in 1966. So, we all could not resist hearing more about that and getting photos with him and my silver Bizzarrini GT 5300.

Lamborghini honored Valentino Balboni by putting his name on a special edition Gallardo LP 550-2. Below is a video about this special car and the man.
