Jay Leno On Mulholland Drive, Ferrari and Bizzarrini

by Mike -

In this video Jay Leno drives a Mercedes fast in the hills of Los Angeles.

This reminds me of the Stephen Mitchell films where Stephen is driving his classic Ferrari 250GTO in the same location in 1970, which has not changed much in the last 40 years. I have driven on these roads myself many times, most recently in December 2010.

Jay mentions Rendezvous, the video that I featured this past Monday. He did not mention my own video, Paris At Night, which was also featured this past Monday - maybe next time.

This picture below has nothing to do with the video above, except the relationship between Bizzarrini and the Ferrari 250GTO, but I cannot resist posting another picture of my Bizzarrini  GT 5300. This picture has not been published before.

Well after I thought about it there are several connections here. The Bizzarrini and Ferrari 250GTO connection but also the Mulholland Drive connection - Stephen Mitchell and Jay Leno both chose this road for their recorded drives. Stephen Mitchell is also a great lover of Paris where the two videos Rendezvous and Paris At Night were made.

And Jay Leno stopped by to see my Bizzarrini at a car show one time to tell me how much he liked the Bizzarrini GT 5300 and that he had met Giotto Bizzarrini in person a few years ago. Jay then gave me some valuable technical tips that I have implemented exactly.

So, I got that going for me too.

  1. Here's a must-watch video (must have good speakers!) of Tanner Foust drifting a Scion (with a NASCAR drivetrain) up Mulholland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHtwUr-IkHM

  2. Addison,

I put on my headphones - great video. I want to do that! But is it legal? Never mind, I still want to do that.
