Even More Pictures From The Best Car Picture Contest

by Mike -

Here are more pictures submitted for The Best Car Picture Contest.

These two pictures above are special photos of Giotto Bizzarrini test driving one of the last cars he made, a P538. These photos were submitted by Jack Koobs de Hartog.

Jose Lopez sent in this photo of a 1956 Chevrolet Corvette as the sun goes down in Miami, Florida.

Again the unusual car above is from Mike Clarke but he did not let me know what it is. But to me it looks like the cars we rode on the bumper car ride at the carnival.

A beautiful 7 Liter Iso Grifo sent in by Ted Hirth.

Ted Hirth also sent this photo of the special Bizzarrini Manta.

Above we see a 1953 m-38 military jeep, made for the Korean war to Marine Corp Specs. These pictures were sent by Mark Bohne. Semper Fidelis.

Iso And Bizzarrini All Over California-Part 2

by Mike -

I did not attend the Dana Point Concours d'Elegance because I was at the Palo Alto Concours a few hundred miles north.

A beautiful site: an Iso Rivolta GT, a Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada and a yellow Iso Grifo 7 Liter.

The next three pictures show the Bizzarrini P538 in the foreground.

Above - first in class - 1969 Iso Grifo 7-liter Coupe owned by Don & Carol Murray.

These pictures are by Ted Hirth.

Part 1 is here.

Iso And Bizzarrini - Italian Art

by Mike -

The automobile as art begins with the shape, but the engineering and performance must match the beauty of that shape. Iso and Bizzarrini cars do that.

Bizzarrini P538

by Mike

The Bizzarrini P538 is a mid-engine race car without a top. Originally two were made with a Lamborghini V12 engine and two were made with the Corvette 5.3 liter V8. The body is fiberglass over a tubular steel chassis. This is a stunning car in person, however, it did not have a successful race career. Originally introduced in 1965 there have been many continuation cars made since the original four.

The car in this video is an exact reproduction of the 1965 Le Mans race car, commissioned by the owner, and constructed by Giotto Bizzarrini himself. Perhaps the last Bizzarrini made by Ing. Bizzarrini! It was at Concourso Italiano in Monterey, California in August 2010 parked next to my Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada.
