Enzo Ferrari liked this new car enough in 1967 to name it after his son but not enough to put his own brand name on the car. A mid-engine car with only 6 cylinders was not expected from Ferrari in the 1960s.
246 GT
246 GTS
The 246 designation refers to the 2.4 liter capacity and 6-cylinder engine. The styling of this Dino foreshadowed the styling of the 360 Modena in 1999.
The first model in this family was the Dino 206, 2 liters and 6-cylinders. There were 144 206s made in 1967 and 1968. There were 2,609 246 GT coupes made between 1969 and 1974 and there were 1,274 246 GTS (spyders) made between 1972 and 1974.
Ferrari now claims full ownership of this model and they have become highly desired collector cars.
Some of these pictures were taken at the Palo Alto Concours d'Elegance earlier this year and some were taken at the event I wrote about here.
